How to find a Good Driving Instructor (ADI) Green Badge

• All aproved driving instructors (Adi ) must be registered with the DSA
• Have passed a CRB check (criminal record Check)
• Pass a tough Theory and practical driving test and Adi part 3 instruction ability test.
• Alway display an adi green badge on the windscrren of the tuition vehicle
• Maintain a very high standard of instruction which is test in the form of check test by the DSA

All adi driving instructors are regularly checked and tested by the DSA, And the standard of driving instructor is the graded

• Grade 4 is competent ( About 60% of instructors )
  
• Grade 5 is good ( About 35% of instructors )
  
• Grade 6 is a very high standard ( About 5% of instructors )

Will the driving school tell you that your instructor is a Pdi ?

How long has the Pdi got left on his 6 month licence ?

It always pays to check that your instructor is properly qualified before stepping in the car with them. Anyone giving driving lessons in exchange for money must be registered with the driving standards agency (DSA) by law.

Ensure Your Driving Instructor is legal and properly licensed

A fully qualified driving instructor will display a green badge similar to the one top right of this page on their windscreen.

Trainee driving instructors will display a pink badge.

A trainee driving instructor has a pink badge and has not passed his or her part 3 adi test instruction ability with a pass rate of only 34% (dsa Figures 2009-2010) and is not a fully qualified instructor. Trainee instructor are learning more from you !! Trainee driving instructor can not offer pass Plus Courses.
